The Potez 621 was an airliner version of the Potez 540 bomber, keeping the flying surfaces and engines of the bomber with a new, larger, fuselage. Twenty-three were made for Air France and flew for it between 1935 and 1940.

When Air France was formed in 1933 it needed new airliners that would not become available for some time so Potez offered it an interim airliner, a Potez 540 bomber with a new airliner fuselage, the Potez 620.

Initial engine problems meant that some were fitted with Hispano Suiza engines and became the 621 which first flew on 15 November 1935.

Air France eventually took delivery of 8 Potez 620s and 15 Potez 621s.

Two Potez 621s were sent to South America where they flew the route from Buenos Aires to Santiago de Chile until the Armistice in June 1940.

Other Potez 620 and 621 airliners were requisitioned at the outbreak of war in 1939 by the Armee de l’Air .
