The Aero L-29 Delfin was a simple and rugged trainer designed and constructed in Czechoslovakia for Warsaw Pact air forces. They began entering service in 1963 and many are still flying today.

The Aero L-29 Delfin (in English, Dolphin) was designed and constructed in Czechoslovakia as a trainer for Warsaw Pact air forces.

It was of simple and rugged design, easy to fly and maintain, and the prototype made its first flight on 5 April 1959.

The Delfin was delivered to all Warsaw Pact countries except Poland which developed its own jet trainer instead.

Between 1963 and 1974 3,500 Delfins were manufactured and 2,000 of these were delivered to the Soviet Air Force. They flew in over 20 air forces and some are now in private ownership.

This model represents a standard Delfin in service with the Georgian Air Force in the early 1990s.
