The Potez 580 was the ultimate version of a range of light aeroplanes manufactured by Potez during the 1930s. It was popular with aeroclubs and also served with the French Air Force.

The Potez 58 series was the ultimate development of a line of light aeroplanes developed during the 1930s.

The line began with the Potez 36 series that first flew in 1929 and was a great success with 300 built.

This led to the Potez 43, with several refinements and carrying a pilot and two passengers, that first flew in June 1932.

The main difference in the Potez 58 series was more powerful engines.

The first one flew on 7 March 1934 and it was manufactured in four main versions; the 580 with the Potez 6Ba engine (80 manufactured), the 584 with the deHavilland Gipsy Moth Major engine (4 built), the 585 which was a liaison and utility version (99 were operated by the French Air Force) and the 586 which was a four seat version.

This model represents F-ANLY flying in France in the late 1930s.
