History

The Airbus A.310 was a development of the Airbus A.300 designed to carry slightly less passengers, Its passenger capacity and longer range made it popular with airlines and 225 were manufactured.

The Airbus A.310 was a derivative of the Airbus A.300 designed to meet airline requests for a slightly lower passenger capacity than the A.300.

It had a shorter fuselage, new wings and lighter undercarriage but otherwise shared a high commonality with the A.300.

It was launched in July 1978, the first one flew on 3 April 1982 and they entered service in April 1982.

Interest in it declined during the 1990s when the next generation of airliners began entering airline service, including the Airbus A.330, so the A.310 only remained in production from 1983 to 1998 and 255 were manufactured.

This model represents P2-ANA flying for Air Niugini in 1993.
