History
The Airbus A.321 is the stretched version of the A.320 series of narrow body airliners. They have been very popular with airlines and over 2,300 had been produced by June 2021.
The Airbus A.321 is a stretched version of the A.320 that was launched in March 1984, made its first flight on 22 February 1987 and began entering service in 1988.
The stretched A.321 was launched in 1988, made its first flight on 11 March 1993 and they began entering service in January 1994.
The main difference from the A.320 is the fuselage lengthened by 6.94 meters, a slightly modified wing, reinforced central fuselage and undercarriage to cater for the additional weight and rearranged exits.
Airbus erected a new factory to manufacture A.321s in Hamburg (then West Germany).
