It can carry more than 500 passengers over a distance of 15,400 kilometers at about 900 kilometers an hour. The A.380 is designed and constructed by a conortium of European aviation companies.

Planning began in the 1990s and the decision was made to proce3ed with production in 2000.

Parts of the aeroplane are made in various locations in Europe and final construction took place at the Airbus headquarters at Tolouse in France.

The first prototype made its maiden flight on 27 April 2005 and the A.380 began scheduled services with Singapore Airlines in October 2007.

Due to the popularity of the new generation of twin jet airliners production ended in 2021 when only 251 had been produced.
