History

The AMX-13 DCA was one of a number of French armoured vehicles developed from the AMX-13 light tank.

The AMX-13 DCA was an anti-aircraft version with a new turret mounting two 30mm cannon and radar.

The AMX-13 was designed as an air-mobile light tank mounting a 75mm cannon in a novel oscillating turret.

Design began in 1946, they began entering service with the French Army in 1953 and they were later exported to almost 30 countries.

They had a rugged and reliable hull that allowed development into other versions including armoured personnel carriers, anti-aircraft vehicles, bridge layers and self propelled howitzers.

The anti-aircraft version was developed in the 1960s to give the French Army a mobile anti-aircraft vehicle.

It combined a DCA turret with the existing AMX-13 hull. Production began in 1969 and 60 were manufactured.

This model represents an AMX-13 DCA in service with the French Army in the early 1970s.
