History

The Augusta A-109 is a light helicopter developed in Italy in the late 1960s.

It has been very popular and 500 had been manufactured by mid 2006.

The A-109 K2 version was designed for high altitude air rescue services.

The Augusta A-109 is a light helicopter designed and manufactured in Italy. Development began in the 1960s and the first of three prototypes made its initial flight on 4 August 1971.

This helicopter has proved to be very popular, the 500th was delivered in June 2006 and it had been produced in a wide range of versions for civil and military use.

The A-109 K2 version was designed to meet the specifications of REGA, the Swiss air rescue service.

It has a high-altitude and high-temperature capability and fixed undercarriage, unlike most A-109s. It is typically used by police, search and rescue and air ambulance operators.

This model represents an Augusta A-109 K2 in service with REGA in the late 1990s.
