The Boeing 727 became one of the most important airliners in aviation history.

Over 1800 were manufactured and most remain in service. The 727-200 is a stretched version of the original design

Boeing began developing the 727 in the late 1950s and the first one flew on 9 February 1963.

They began entering service in 1964, including their first flights with Australian airlines in November 1964.

The stretched 727-200 first flew on 27 July 1967 and they became very popular with airlines and their customers.

The 727 remained in production until 1984 and were sold to over 100 airlines.

As they were withdrawn from passenger service many were converted to freighters and remain flying today.

This model represents VH-ANE, one of three 727s flown by East West in the 1980s.
