History

The Boeing 747 has been called ‘The Queen of the Skies’ and it is one of the most important airliner to fly because of its long range, high capacity and profitability. Ansett International flew them between 1994 and 2001.

Boeing announced plans to build the 747 in 1965 and the first one flew in 1969.

Their high seating capacity began a new era in air transport and tourism because the airlines had to carry more passengers to make money from them.

The 747-300 was basically the same as the earlier 747-200 but with an extended upper deck to allow them carry more passengers.

The first was delivered in 1983 and the last in 1990.

This model represents VH-INJ, the first 747 flown by Ansett International.
