The Boeing 787 is a new generation airliner featuring very fuel efficient engines and airframes of the most modern design and composition.

The 787-8 is the first of a number of proposed version of this airliner.

Boeing began planning its 787 in the late 1990s to produce an airliner that would replace its existing 747-400 and 767 airliners.

Progressing through a variety of phases, the final form of the 787 was revealed in January 2003.

The airliner was to be produced in a number of varieties differing mainly in fuselage length, beginning with the mid-length 787-8.

The first 787 was rolled out in July 2007, the first flight took place on 15 December 2009 and 787s began entering airline service in October 2011.

By September 2013, 979 Boeing 787s had been ordered and 89 delivered.

This model represents SP-LRA flying with LOT (Polish Airlines) in June 2013.
