History

The Dassault Mystere IV was a refinement of earlier Dassault jet fighters. It entered service with the French air force in 1953 and was also flown by the air forces of Israel and India into the 1970s.

The Dassault Mystere IV was an improved version of the Mystere II and first flew on 28 Sepotember 1952.

It entered service with the Armee de l’ Air in April 1953 and served until the 1980s.

They also served in the air forces of Israel and India. A total of 411 were manufactured between 1953 and 1958.

They first saw combat when they were used by France and Israel during the Suez Crisis of 1956 and they were still in service with Israel at the beginning of the Six Day War in 1967. In Indian service they took part in the India-Pakistan wars of 1965 and 1971.

This model represents a Mystere IVA flying at the Centre de Tir et Bombardement at Cazaux in 1959.
