The Doflug D-3802 was a Swiss development of the Morane Saulnier 406. With a more powerful engine and other refinements it was a much better fighter, but it was soon outclassed by emerging jet fighters and saw only limited use.

Prior to World War II Switzerland began manufacturing the French Morane Saulnier 406 under licence.

In 1943 Germany gave Switzerland the technical details of the Morane Sauliner 450, an improved 406 that had not been put into production if France. A key element of the 450 was installation of a more powerful Hispano-Suiza 12Y-31 engine.

Swiss development of this new fighter around these plans soon began and the prototype first flew on 29 September 1944.

Although the D-3802 was much faster than the MS406 and just as manoeuvrable, new jet fighters outclassed it and only 12 were made.

This model represents D-3802 J-414 (the last one to be made) flying with the Swiss air force in 1950.
