History
The Focke Wulf Ta152H was an advanced high altitude version of the very successful Fw190 German World War II fighter. Despite its great potential it was developed too late to serve successfully during the war.
The Focke Wulf Fw190, Germany’s best piston engined fighter, was redesignated the Ta152 in 1944. As a result the final developments of the Fw190 appeared with the new name but retained many of the best features, combined with new innovations.
The Ta152H was designed to fight at high altitudes where enemy bombers were operating.
The first one flew in October 1944 and production began in November. However only a few were completed by the end of the war, and lack of proper flight testing meant they did not perform as well as had been anticipated.
This model represents one of the ten Ta152H pre-production aircraft.
