The Howard DGA-6, nicknamed Mister Mulligan, was a pioneering racing aeroplane. It won the 1935 Bendix and Thompson Trophies but was destroyed in a crash-landing during the running of the 1936 Bendix Trophy.

The Howard DGA-6 was designed by Ben Howard and Gordon Israel specifically to compete in the Bendix Trophy, an annual race from the west coast of the United States to Cleveland, Ohio, where the annual Thompson Trophy pylon race was held.

It did this by having the range to cut out time-consuming refuelling stops along the route of the race and being equipped with oxygen.

This allowed it to fly for seven hours at 22,000 feet. By winning the 1935 Bendix and Thompson trophies it set a new standard for all classes of aeroplanes.

It was also the only racer of its time to be developed into successful commercial production aeroplanes including the Howard DGA-8, -9, -11 and -12.

This kit represents the only Howard DGA-6 in August/September 1935
