The Junkers Ju90 was a long distance airliner developed from an earlier bomber project. Eight were ordered by Luft Hansa in 1937 and eighteen were eventually manufactured. Only two survived World War Two.

The Junkers Ju90 was an airliner version of the planned Ju89 long range strategic bomber.

Although that project was cancelled in 1937 the wings and tail of the bomber were given a new, wider fuselage to meet a Luft Hansa request for a long distance commercial aeroplane.

The third Ju-90 prototype led to production orders for eight similar production Ju90A-1s and that prototype was also taken over by Luft Hansa, and began flying on the Berlin-Vienna route in 1938.

A total of eighteen Ju90s were manufactured but a number were later used as the basis for the military Junkers Ju290 and Ju390 aeroplanes.

This model represents D-AURE, the third Ju90 prototype, flown by Lufthansa from 1938. It was destroyed in an air raid in 1944.
