The Nieuport-Delage Ni-D622 was the final major version of a Nieuport design that had begun with the Ni-D42 series in 1924.

The Ni-D622 that entered service in 1931 was obsolescent but was still in reserve service in 1939.

The Ni-D622 began life as the Ni-D42 displayed at the Paris Salon in 1924.

They began entering French Aviation Militaire service in January 1927 and were very impressive.

An improved version, the Ni-D62, began development 1927 and, although it had many refinements over the Ni-D42, it was obsolescent when it began entering French service in 1931.

However, 310 entered service with the Aviation Militaire and French Navy and were still equipping reserve units at the beginning of World War II. 143 were still in service when the Battle of France began.
