The Robin DR.315 Petit Prince is one of a range of light aeroplanes designed by Edouard Joly and Jean Delemontez using the Jodel name.

The first Jodel aeroplane flew in 1946 and they are still being developed today.

After World War II the French government encouraged the development of light aircraft flying, including the design of new light aeroplanes.

The first Jodel aeroplane, the D9, flew in 1946 and two seat and four seat versions were subsequently developed.

Although Jodel aeroplanes could be home build many were constructed by manufacturing company, one of them being Robin Aviation which is the major manufacturer of Jodel designed aeroplanes.

The DR.315 Petit Prince was developed using a combination of components from 200 and 400 series Jodel aeroplanes.

The first one flew on 2 April 1965 and they have been constructed and flown in large numbers since then.
