History
The SEPECAT Jaguar was a strike fighter developed jointly by France and Britain in the early 1960s. They have served with the air forces of Britain, France, India and several small countries.
In the 1960s Breguet in France began developing a subsonic trainer and attack fighter and BAC in Britain began work on a supersonic trainer.
These two were brought together in 1966 as the Jaguar which first flew on 8 September 1968.
They began entering service in 1973 and saw active service in the Gulf and Kosovo Wars with British and French air forces and the Kargil War in Indian service.
A total of 543 were manufactured between 1968 and 1981 and the last ones wee retired from servied in 2014.
This model represents a Jaguar GR.1 in service with the RAF during the 1980s.
