History

The AMX-30DCA was an anti-aircraft version of the French AMX-30 main battle tank.

The turret came from the AMX-13 light tank and offered improved capability, but none were ordered for production.
The AMX-30DCA was designed to give the French Army anti-aircraft capability by using a DCA turrett – Défense Contre Avions, ‘defense against aircraft’ – mounted on an AMX-30 hull.

The turret had been designed for the AMX-13 light tank and 60 were produced, starting in 1969. The AMX-30 hull offered a larger chassis providing superior mobility and a more stable platform that could carry much more ammunition (1,200 rounds, as compared to the 600 carried by the AMX-13).

Development began in 1969 but none were ordered by France.

In 1975 Saudi Arabia ordered an improved version called the AMX-30SA.
This model represents a prototype AMX-30DCA in 1969.
