The Dassault Super Mystere was the ultimate development of Dassault jet fighters that began in the late 1940s with the Ouragan. It was the first super-sonic fighter to enter production in Western Europe.

The first prototype Super Mystere made its maiden flight on 2 March 1955 and broke the sound barrier in level flight the following day.

One hundred and eighty Super Mysteres were made, 144 serving with the French Air Force until they were withdrawn from service in 1977.

Thirty six were also sold to Israel where they saw action during the Six-Day (1967) and Yom Kippur (1973) Wars where they were a match for Arab MiG-19s.

Twelve Israeli Super Mysteres went to Honduras in 1975 where they remained in service into the 1990s.

This model represents a Super Mystere of EC 2/12 based at Cambrai in 1971.
