History

The Fokker F-28 was a jet airliner designed to serve regional and low capacity routes. Ansett Transport Industries flew more then 15 of them on various routes in regional Western Australia and New South Wales.

The Fokker F-28 was a joint venture with components manufactured in various places and assembled by Fokker in Holland.

It was designed to appeal to airlines wanting jet airliners with low demand routes and a minimum of sophisticated servicing.

The prototype F-28 first flew on 9 May 1967 and they began entering service in March 1969.

The F-28-4000 series had a stretched fuselage and could carry 30 more passengers than the earlier -1000 version.

The prototype first flew on 20 October 1976.

This model represents VH-FKI flying for Airlines of Western Australia in 1983.
