The Messerschmitt Bf109F was the second major version of this very important German World War 2 fighter. Many consider it the best version of the aircraft due to its performance and handling characteristics.

The ‘F’ version of Messerschnitt Bf109 fighter was the second major re-design and was considered by many to be the high water mark of the Bf109.

It featured new wings, improved aerodynamics and enhanced performance.

Production began in August 1940 and some flew during the Battle of Britain.

Over 2000 Bf-109Fs were made with the ‘F-4′ version entering production in August 1941.

This model represents the Bf109F-4 flown by Unteroffizier Dr. Felix Sauer’, 10 ‘Jabo’ JG 53, Jagdeschwader53 ‘Pik As’ from Pozallo Airfield, Southern Sicily on 27 March 1942.
